The Big Spring Rod & Custom Car Club recently had a "Drive In" at the Sonic Drive Inn on FM 700. This special event was not only to let car club members show their cars but provided an opportunity to once again support the local Christmas In April organization. The event was a wonderful success with over 40 vehicles of various styles, colors and makes represented. The Car Club had gotten sponsors from local businesses and made up special T-shirts commemorating the special night. The T-shirts were sold to the public at $10.00 each and $1,000 in proceeds were then donated to Christmas In April. Don Riley, President of Christmas in April was on hand representing his group and taking pictures and commented "This is an absolutely wonderful night. I've enjoyed seeing the various cars and talking with the group members as well as being on the receiving end of $1000. This money will cover the costs on a medium size project. It will provide a new roof, caulking and painting and some interior sheet rock repairs to secure one more elderly persons home from the rain and wind here in Howard County. The Car Club is actively recruiting new members and is becoming more active in other local charities and benefits every year and I want to express our gratitude for them helping us to help the needy homeowners in this way."
